About the Job

Wage Range $12.50-14.00/hour

In this position, you will be responsible for keeping each of our distinct craft brews flowing into cans, bottles and kegs while taking care of our world-famous barley pop.  This is a fast-paced, repetitive, physically demanding position that will require availability during a variety of shifts and occasional extended hours.

 

Responsibilities

o   Operate all bottling, canning and kegging machines

o   Build boxes for cans, mixed cases, and storage

o   Safely hand dip 22-ounce bottles in hot wax

o   Loading/unloading of bottling components on the filling line

o   Building, unloading, and moving pallets of kegs, cans and bottles of finished product

o   Routine cleaning and maintenance tasks

o   Compliance with CIP standards

o   Light fork-lift work

o   Wrap pallets

o   Assist with warehouse operations as necessary such as cleaning, organizing, etc.

 

Non-Routine Responsibilities

o   Assist cellar in daily operations

o   Assist brew house in daily operations

o   Assist lab in daily operations

o   Assist Warehouse in daily operations

o   Helping with snow removal as needed

 

Our Ideal Candidate

o   Must be at least 21 years of age

o   High School Diploma or equivalent

o   Has a strong focus on quality, safety and efficiency

o   Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds, and maneuver 165 lb. kegs, repeatedly

o   Must be comfortable working on their feet, reaching over shoulders, twisting, turning, and squatting for over eight hours at a time

o   Works safely with chemicals of varying composition

o   Has the ability to follow directions and multi-task; can shift gears quickly to new tasks

o   Works independently as well as in a team environment

o   Has strong mechanical ability with problem solving/troubleshooting skills

o   Is able to work all shifts, additional hours and weekends as necessary

o   Has reliable transportation and is able to consistently arrive at work on time

About the Job

We are a seeking talented, enthusiastic, positive energy person to join our culinary team. The Container at Ska focuses on fresh, locally sourced, delicious food; made from scratch with lots of love. A passion for food and providing a great time to folks visiting the brewery is a must. This is an exempt salaried position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages operations during scheduled shifts that include daily decision-making, staff support, guest interaction, scheduling, planning while upholding food safety standards, cleanliness, and product quality
  • Works with General Manager on development of and execution of static menu items, creating standardized recipes. Menu development/R&D/Costings
  • Responsible for optimizing profits by controlling food costs and BOH labor cost, taking corrective action when needed; ensuring they conform to the annual budget on a monthly basis
  • Identifies operational opportunities to build sales and control costs; develop and implement plans to address opportunities.
  • Maintains an accurate and up-to-date manpower plan of staffing needs. Prepares schedules and ensures that areas of responsibility are staffed properly for all shifts.
  • Staffs, trains and develops BOH team members through ongoing feedback and coaching, establishment of performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews on a regular basis.
  • Works with General Manager to develop and implement and maintain all control systems to include: order guides, ordering, recipes, station check sheets, job descriptions, standard daily operating procedures, budget, inventory spreadsheets, inventory, bid sheets, training manual, scheduling
  • Holds BOH team accountable to following recipes creating a constant product by leading the team during peak service periods.
  • As needed: coordinate written/verbal disciplinary actions/termination with human resources department
  • Demonstrates responsibility for purchasing, receiving and storing food products, inspection of local suppliers, use of correct products and proper par levels to minimize food waste and optimize food cost.
  • Fosters open communication with kitchen and FOH staff.
  • In the absence of the General Manager and as acting Manager on Duty, oversees the entire Container and Tasting Room operation.
  • Foster farmer/chef partnerships within local community
  • Develop and cost catering menu, ska-b-que specials
  • Coordinate with GM and marketing team on upcoming functions, catering events, happy hour promotions
  • Conduct daily menu meetings with BOH/FOH staff
  • Conduct PM on refrigeration/walk-ins, oversee deep clean schedule including grease trap
  • Able to work 40–50-hour work weeks. As well as different times of day (morning/mid/night shifts).

 

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum of 5 years previous executive chef/kitchen manager position in mid to high volume establishment
  • Proven menu development and execution
  • Positive professional attitude
  • Team player/collaborator
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Current Servsafe Food Protection Manager Certification or willingness to obtain within first 30 days of hire
  • Culinary degree preferred but not mandatory

About the Job
$13-$17 per hour
In this position, you are required to perform a professional level of cooking, knife and prep skills. This position both preps and works the station during service periods. Strong communication and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be a team player with professional attitude.
Responsibilities
o All aspects of food preparation and a la carte cooking
o Understanding of proper sanitation practices and policies
o Demonstrates proper cooking techniques and execution
o Ensure food is consistently made to standards set
o Follow proper food handling techniques and coordinates the use of time, material and equipment to avoid waste and unnecessary expense
o Help with snow removal as needed
Our Ideal Candidate
o Must be at least 21 years of age
o Should have a strong focus on quality, safety and efficiency
o Previous prep or line cook experience preferred of at least 1 year
o Positive professional attitude
o Team player/collaborator with the ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
o Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
o Strong multi-tasking skills
o Possess a food handler’s card from an accredited course or be willing to obtain one
o May be required to work additional hours, nights, weekends and some holidays as dictated by the work load and staffing.
o Able to stand, carry, bend, stretch, stoop, pull and push, and lift up to 70 pounds
o Ability to follow standardized, written recipes and verbal instruction
o Fundamental understanding of sanitation, cleanliness and personal hygiene
o Regular, predictable, and dependable attendance
o Must be able to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions
o Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated and organized
