Reports To
Production Manager

Wage Range $18.00-22.00/hour
In this position, you will have direct, hands-on responsibility for producing quality Ska Brewing beer in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment, assisting in safety accord and QA/QC;
    • Proper knowledge, wear, and usage of PPE. Informed in safe brewing practices;
    • Ensure work area is clean and well organized following cGMP and Housekeeping principles;
  • All aspects of brewhouse operation and wort production including but not limited to:
    • Milling, mashing, lautering, and wort boiling;
    • Safe and efficient transfer of wort to fermentation vessels;
    • Routine troubleshooting and maintenance;
    • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment and work areas;
    • Monitor and record process times, temperatures, gravities, and pH levels;
    • Collection of sterile samples for lab analysis.
  • Assist in inventory management;
  • Follow all operational procedures set forth by Ska Brewing Co.;
  • Partner with Packaging and other departments to meet production goals;
  • Yeast harvests, pitches, drops, and dry yeast preparation;
  • Proper carbonation manipulation and dissolved oxygen monitoring;
  • Filter and carbonate beer, tracking beer throughout separation/filtration/clarification process;
  • Administering of filter and process aids;
  • Work with the team to ensure machinery is performing correctly, being maintained and kept in good working order;
  • Effectively communicate mechanical/process performance/issues with Production Manager and production team;
  • Basic beer movements – empty and fill tanks, transfer beer;
  • Ensures tank exteriors are cleaned regularly;
  • Monitor and record results of fermentation and cellaring of beer. Maintain accurate records;
  • Ensure that process and product is free of microbiological contamination;
  • Ensure appropriate processes are followed and samples are taken for QA/QC;
  • Make sure all daily tasks and checklists are completed properly;
  • Record all fermentation and filtration information into Encompass ERP.

Non-Routine Responsibilities

  • Assist lab in daily operations
  • Assist in daily packaging operations
  • Assist Warehouse in daily operations
  • Helping with snow removal as needed

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • A minimum of 1 year of professional experience brewing on a commercial system (Experience or working knowledge of 25bbl or larger brewhouse is preferred)
  • Formal brewery training and/or certification with strong mechanical ability is preferred
  • Self-directed and work effectively independently
  • Organized, detail-oriented and attentive to quality and standards
  • Flexible, accommodating, confident, team-oriented and self-reliant
  • Must be able & willing to work morning, midday, overnight and/or weekend shifts
  • Must be able to endure long hours on feet
  • Must work well in wet conditions and hot or cold environments
  • Must work safely in a fast-paced industrial setting
  • Must be in good physical condition and able to maneuver in confined spaces

About the Job

Wage Range $16.00-18.00/hour
In this position, you will be responsible for keeping each of our distinct craft brews flowing into cans, bottles and kegs while taking care of our world-famous barley pop. This is a fast-paced, repetitive, physically demanding position that will require availability during a variety of shifts and occasional extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all bottling, canning and kegging machines
  • Build boxes for cans, mixed cases, and storage
  • Safely hand dip 22-ounce bottles in hot wax
  • Loading/unloading of bottling components on the filling line
  • Building, unloading, and moving pallets of kegs, cans and bottles of finished product
  • Routine cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Compliance with CIP standards
  • Light fork-lift work
  • Wrap pallets
  • Assist with warehouse operations as necessary such as cleaning, organizing, etc.

Non-Routine Responsibilities

  • Assist cellar in daily operations
  • Assist brew house in daily operations

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Has a strong focus on quality, safety and efficiency
  • Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds, and maneuver 165 lb. kegs, repeatedly
  • Must be comfortable working on their feet, reaching over shoulders, twisting, turning, and squatting for over eight hours at a time
  • Works safely with chemicals of varying composition
  • Has the ability to follow directions and multi-task; can shift gears quickly to new tasks
  • Works independently as well as in a team environment
  • Has strong mechanical ability with problem solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Is able to work all shifts, additional hours and weekends as necessary
  • Has reliable transportation and is able to consistently arrive at work on time

In this position, you will be an enthusiastic, beer and food knowing, customer service-oriented person in our Front of House team. A passion for craft beer and food, and providing a great time to folks visiting the brewery is a must. This is a non-exempt position.

Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent customer service while pouring our handcrafted pints, taking food orders, or providing support for other front of house positions

  • Educating patrons about Ska beer and the differences between styles as well as the history and culture around Ska and craft beer in general. Suggest food and beer pairings and be able to confidently discuss our beer and food menus

  • Consistent stocking of kegs, merchandise and packaged product

  • Maintaining comfort & cleanliness throughout the tasting room and restrooms

  • Daily heavy lifting of 50lbs+

  • Learn and operate POS System

  • Cash handling and credit card transactions

  • Giving Tours of the Brewery to our guests

  • Balancing of register and checkout at the end of the shift

Non-Routine Responsibilities

  • Assisting with clearing snow around HQ Grounds
